Pixi Eye Beauty Kit - Mirage for only £3.99! (swatches & review)

I'm not sure what, if anything, is happening to pixi cosmetics but alot of products seem to be cropping up on discount sites and ebay. I bought my eye beauty kit after cosmetic-candy.com blogged about a site selling a good deal of the brands products - www.directcosmetics.com

A couple of days later this arrived in the post

Pixi eye beauty kit in Mirage

The set comes complete with a double ended fluff & eyeliner brush

The palette is the size of a credit card complete with a mirror in the lid. The brush is better than the usual supplied with eyeshadows. The packaging is a matte white plastic which is sleek, but very thin when the lid is opened and I fear a heavy hand could easily break it.

The shades are a pink brown mix, with a nice mixture of light and dark shades.
All the shadows have gold shimmer running through them and are very soft to the touch. As you can see from the picture above the embossed pixi doesn't last too long.

The packaging states that these are silky and sheer, which is true and when picking up the shadows it's important not to grab too much as you may end up with lots of glitter under the eye - sexy!

Also incuded is an eye primer and what I presume to be a concealer ( the packaging fails to make any refrence to this 8th product. Maybe that's why they have been massively reduced from the £18 rrp)
It's nice to have these two extras included but due to the glitter content of the shadows the creams tend to end up a bit glittery themselves.

Swatches

My two favourite shades are bottom middle, a lovely muted pinky purple and
top right, a browned purple that reminds me of beauty marked but without the glitter.

Verdict? This a lovely palette... for £3.99. I could never imagine paying a full £18 for this. It's a nice throw in your bag or take away for the weekend sort of item but I doubt this will get constant use. That being said anyone who is interested in these sorts of shades or who wants to try out pixi this is a good starting point and there are other shades which I would like to try.
